On April 22, 2021, Fr. Eric posted an impromptu reflection on Instagram, focusing on an episode from the Abiding Together Podcast entitled “Her Story: Mary Magdelene – Part 3” (S09 Ep. 14); and the song “I See You” by Leona Lewis in James Cameron’s “Avatar.”
Topics discussed included sharing the entirety of our hearts with the Lord, including our hopes, dreams, frailties and sorrows; and learning to see ourselves in light of God’s love, which is meant to lead us ultimately to surrender ourselves completely to His Divine Providence.

Here are the corresponding lyrics:
I see you
I see you
Walking through a dream I see you
My light in darkness breathing hope of new life
Now I live through you and you through me, enchanting
I pray in my heart that this dream never ends
I see me through your eyes
Living new life flying high
Your love shines the way into paradise
So I offer my life as a sacrifice
I live through your love
You teach me how to see all that's beautiful
My senses touch your world I've never pictured
Now I give my hope to you, I surrender
I pray in my heart that this world never ends
I see me through your eyes
Living new life flying high
Your love shines the way into paradise
So I offer my life
I offer my love for you
When my heart was never open
(And my spirit never free)
To the world that…

S02 Ep. 12 – Suffering Endurance in the Service of Greatness
Thursday Apr 08, 2021
Thursday Apr 08, 2021
Reflecting on the example of St. Benedict of Nursia, Fr. Eric speaks about the importance of striking a balance between missionary zeal, and the need to be practical and flexible in seeking the conversion of others. Fr. Eric talks also about the significance of Jesus responding to the pride, ignorance and fear of the disciples at the Last Supper by washing their feet, making them priests, and giving them the Holy Eucharist.
In contrast to our inclination to deal with the persons entrusted to our care with anger, frustration and impatience, Fr. Eric speaks of how Christ continues to believe in the potential of the People of God to realize their vocation to greatness; and how the steady application of patience, kindness and suffering endurance can do wonders in terms of facilitating this particular end.
This homily was given originally on Holy Thursday.

S02 Ep. 11 – Sharing in the Gift of Christ’s Vulnerability | PALM SUNDAY
Tuesday Mar 30, 2021
Tuesday Mar 30, 2021
On the occasion of Palm Sunday, Fr. Eric reflects on the reality of the transcendent God made vulnerable, particularly through the Nativity Story and the image of the suffering Messiah. Topics discussed include the novelty within Christianity of the transcendent God being made immanent; the need to embody the virtue of vulnerability in the vocation of fatherhood; vulnerability as an invitation to intimacy and relationship with God; and the need to respond to Christ’s vulnerability by being vulnerable ourselves, so as to become more docile and effective instruments of God’s salvific grace.
Some examples used during this reflection include the TV show “Superman and Lois” (2021) starring Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch; Matthew Kelly’s book “Rediscovering Catholicism” (USA: Beacon Publishing, 2010), particularly the secular philosophies of individualism, hedonism and minimalism; and the stand-up comedy show “Homecoming King” (2017) by Hasan Minhaj.
